Consecutive Interpreting

In consecutive interpreting, the interpreter listens to a speech lasting a few minutes and then translates it once the speaker has finished. Mostly used when there are only two languages involved, consecutive requires note-taking and a deep understanding of the speech, allowing not only the words but also the speaker’s intentions to be accurately transferred. This technique, considered the basis for simultaneous interpreting, requires constant practice to be mastered.
